This year Kolkata Book Fair is shifted from Kolkata Maidan to Saltlake stadium.
What is your opinion about it?
I think that it is the correct decision, because we must maintain greenery to avoid pollution and the real book lovers will go for books so the place is not so important.
But I would prefer more clean place than Saltlake stadium. |

This is the correct decision in my opinion. At least we can save some greenery of our beloved Maidan. I would like to give thanks to the Times of India in this regard as those guys took some great initiative to save the ground. Here is one picture of the Kolkata Maidan!

But for the coming years I would expect the Book Fair in the Eastern Metropolitan zone that is at the premises of the Permanent Milon Mela ground. In fact the place is the nearest of all the proposed fair spots |

Yet one another Brigade Rally spoiled the health of the Maidan. Last Sunday the ruling party of west bengal called up a rally on that particular Maidan. And the record no. of men, almost 250, was at work to clear the garbage of the ground after the rally, as military administration wanted the ground to be clear within one day. The caders spend almost a whole day in the ground and they even enjoyed the day as a Picnic day ... and this things became usual phenomenon for all of the political party rallies.
Irrespective of the party/politics, it becomes more and more difficult for the ground to breath a fresh air. And all are engaged with that nuisance. Its health was about to recover after the Book Fair debate, but the political 'initiatives' related to rallies will certainly kill the health of Maidan. A strong, sensual propaganda is what required to save the Ground. |

I don't know why the caders are doing this kind of suicidal action, they never think about consequences.
It is our duty to save Kolkata Maidan.
Maidan is the lungs of Kolkata so we must save it to breathe properly. |
