A new planet, named Gliese 581 c is discovered by the team of Stéphane Udry of the Geneva Observatory in Switzerland and they announced the discovery on April 24, 2007.
It is an extra solar planet orbiting the red dwarf star Gliese 581 in the constellation of Libra and having a distance of 20.5 light years.
It is assumed that this planet contains liquid water, which is indispensable for any living organism to survive.
The assumption was made based on the habitable-zone model.
Gliese 581 c has a radius 50% larger than that of Earth and gravity is approximately 2.1 times stronger than that of Earth.
It has a complete revolution period of 13 Earth days.
So may be we are not alone in this universe or multiverse! |
