So India is virtually out of the world cup!
Difficult to digest the fact. Given that in a country of 1 billion, we dont have 11 people with enough grit and guts ( and skills) to make it to even the 2nd round in the biggest arena of cricket.
If we put sentiment and emotions aside, we realize that it is not something new. Look at India's performanace in other sports. Any hope that this country can produce great sportsmen/women in good numbers? Agreed that there is lack of fund in other sports, but then cricket is one area where the largest chunk of taxpayers money is spent. Is there lack of any kindda facility for the cricketers? i dont think so. Then what went wrong?
I strongly believe the root cause to be politics in indian sports. There is groupism/regionalisn/quota system everywhere. Deserving sportemen/women are dumped bcoz they dont have the right backers. I myself have seen injustice done to brilliant athelete(s) at regional level. Add to this the power/money hungry worthles politicians as sports administrators and you have a complete recipe for failure at every level. The recent bitter election for BCCI posts between Mr. Sharad Power and Jagmohan Dalmiya are a case in point... Do any one need further proofs? |

Yes, it is a big disappointment for the billion of die hard supporters. India as a team didnt able to perform well in this big tournament. And the growing hope has burst into disaster. Fans are showing their immense grudge in any form through the country.
If the players could be able to feel the sentiment of the croud, they would be more interested in playing the game as well as on their performance rather than indulging themselves in the endorsement of the sorts apparel. Now the media and the companies got enough realisation about their investment on the renowned players as lacs of rupees have gone into vain. They have lost their market virtually.
Performance based payment is what required at this time most. And it should be made cleared that no one is indispensable for the team. If Sourav is out once for the lack of performance, same rule should be applicable for all of the players. |
